Fundamentals of Barista Craft

Ideal for: café and restaurant staff, hotel F&B teams, corporate pantry operators.
SCA Barista Skills Foundation Level
The internationally recognised starting point for professional barista development. This course covers the core competencies of espresso preparation, milk texturing, and sensory evaluation — all assessed to SCA standards.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Set up and calibrate an espresso machine correctly
- Understand extraction and how to adjust for consistency
- Texture milk to the right temperature and density for espresso drinks
- Evaluate coffee quality using basic sensory skills

SCA Barista Skills Intermediate Level
For those who have completed the Foundation level and are ready to go deeper. The Intermediate course builds on extraction theory, introduces more advanced sensory work, and raises the bar on practical technique and workflow efficiency.
Ideal for: experienced baristas looking to formalize their skills, team leads, and café operators who want to develop in-house trainers.
HRD Corp Claimable — Train Your Team at Lower Cost
Lighthouse Coffee Academy is a registered HRD Corp training provider. This means Malaysian employers who contribute to the HRD Corp levy can claim training costs for eligible staff — significantly reducing the investment required to upskill your team.
