Lighthouse Coffee Roastery & Academy began with a simple but powerful purpose:
to shine a light on quality coffee, education, and service — just as a lighthouse guides with clarity and direction.
Where It All Began
Our journey started in 2007 at YelloHouse, Sungai Dua, where we launched Malaysia’s first barista training workshop. It wasn’t just a class; it was the beginning of a culture — a space where people came not only to learn how to make coffee, but to understand it, appreciate it, and share it.
At a time when specialty coffee in Penang was still new — when resources were scarce, barista skills were basic, and few cafés understood the deeper world of coffee — Lighthouse Coffee stepped in as a guide. We weren’t here just to brew good coffee; we were here to build a platform for learning, growth, and community.
Growing With Penang’s Coffee Culture
From our humble workshop, we expanded into our iconic café at the historic Logan Heritage Building in George Town, a space that blended tradition with modern coffee excellence. It became a home for enthusiasts, professionals, travelers, and locals — a place where curiosity met craftsmanship.

Today, Lighthouse Coffee leads the industry from our headquarters in Perai, Penang, continuing the mission that started in Sungai Dua. We roast specialty coffee with integrity, educate with passion, and support cafés as a trusted solutions partner.
